BOAC color scheme for a British Airways 747

British Airways will paint one of their 747 – G-BYGC – for the British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) color scheme. The jet will return in mid february from the paint shop. The BA commented that during the return:

this coincides with the 50th anniversary of the first Boeing 747 flight only a few days earlier.

The BOAC paint scheme was used from 1964 through 1974, the later year British Overseas Airways Corporation, British European Airways, and two regional airlines, Cambrian Airways and Northeast Airlines, were merged to form British Airways. The company celebrates its Centenary this year.
