After the cancelation of the Air race in the city of Budapest by the city council, a few cities volunteerd for the event, most of them were near the Lake Balaton. After some unoffical informations today the official site of the Air Race publicly announced the date and location of the hungarian event:
In an exciting mix of the classic and the new, this season the Red Bull Air Race will stop in Hungary for a record 13th time – but at a fresh location that has never before hosted the aerial motorsport. The resort city of Zamárdi, on the shores of spectacular Lake Balaton, will host the world’s best Air Racing teams this summer.
Home to the second Red Bull Air Race ever held (2003) and the birthplace of pioneering Air Racing pilot Peter Besenyei, Hungary is known as the cradle of the sport. A change from the traditional Budapest stop will bring the action to the southern shore of Central Europe’s largest lake on the same dates originally announced, 13-14 July 2019. Zamárdi is a popular destination for holiday-makers from across Europe and beyond, known for stunning scenery, expansive beaches, music festivals and the surrounding wine-growing region.
“The Red Bull Air Race is an international event with the highest quality standards, therefore we are delighted to provide the venue for the Hungarian stop in 2019. As well as the high speed, low altitude action of the race, there will be a full weekend side act programmes for the whole family to enjoy,” explained Gyula Csákovics, the Mayor of Zamárdi. “The city of Zamardi has over 15 years of professional experience in hosting large, outdoor events and is perfectly suitable for hosting the Red Bull Air Race. The surroundings and the spectacular view will live up to the standards of the competition, and Red Bull Air Race will bring great publicity to both the city and the whole Balaton region.”

All tickets purchased for the race in Budapest are valid for a full refund from the original ticket provider and ticketing options for Lake Balaton will be announced shortly.
Zamárdi is located on the south side of the lake. The M7 motorway is near the city and connects Budapest easily, with a 70 minutes of tarvel by car. No information which airport will be used by the planes of the Air Race program, but Kiliti Airport – Siófok-Kiliti repülőtér (LHSK) – is only a few kilometers to the east of Zamárdi.
