Airshows canceled or postponed due to the Coronavirus – Updated Article

Airshow organisers making ongoing announcements about the current European sutiation occured by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Most of the airshows are canceled or postponed this spring but some organisers are still confident that the sutuation will change soon and the events can be kept. In some European countries the mass events are banned by the local governments as well.

And what exactly is happening with the airshows? We are collecting the new informations with the official statements by the organisers about the events in this constantly updated article:

RAF Cosford Air Show 2020  – UK – POSTPONED, date TBC

Further to recent updates from Her Majesty’s Government on the response to the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak, we have taken the very difficult decision to postpone the 2020 RAF Cosford Air Show which was to be held on Sunday 14th June. -> details

The Royal Navy International Air Day – UK – CANCELED 

Due to the unprecedented uncertainty due to Covid-19, it is with huge regret and disappointment that we have to announce the cancellation of this year’s Royal Navy International Air Day at RNAS Yeovilton on Saturday 11 July. Full statement below.

Danish Air Show Karup  – Denmark  – CANCELED 

Due to the current situation in the community, the Armed Forces is now canceling Danish Air Show 2020.

The Danish Air Show was supposed to have been held at Flyvestation Karup on June 14, and the event is, in experience, the largest single-day event in Denmark with up to 140,000 guests. This is not in harmony with the guidelines the government has set up to counter the spread of coronavirus / covid-19, and therefore the event is canceled.

Royal International Air Tattoo – UK – CANCELED 

It is with enormous regret and disappointment that we have to announce the cancellation of this year’s Royal International Air Tattoo, due to take place from 17 to 19 July, as a result of the challenging and unprecedented environment presented by COVID-19.

Farnborough International Airshow 2020 – UK – CANCELED 

It is with great regret that we announce the Farnborough International Airshow 2020, due to take place in July, is cancelled.

After very careful consideration, the unprecedented impact of the global Coronavirus pandemic has forced this decision in the interests of the health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors, contractors and staff.

This decision was reached taking into consideration several major factors surrounding the outbreak of COVID-19, all of which we have concluded, make it impossible for us to create and host the Airshow this July.

Laval Aéro Show 2020 – France – CANCELED 

Like many major events and air shows today, we regret to announce the postponement of the Laval Aero Show 2020.

This is just a postponement! We are already working hard to offer you a new airshow, Sunday June 6, 2021. It will undoubtedly be a great moment of conviviality around our theme on the Battle of Britain that we will celebrate together. Dear audience, we send you all our thoughts and thanks. As well as our volunteers, our supporters, our partners, our pilots, the armies, the police and rescue forces and the prefecture services.

France Air Expo Lyon 2020 – France – CANCELED 

En tant qu’organisateur d’événements, nous sommes particulièrement attentifs à l’évolution du Coronavirus et de ses conséquences. Nous suivons de près les recommandations du gouvernement français et, si besoin, nous mettrons en place toutes les mesures nécessaires pour assurer la santé et la sécurité de nos participants.

Le salon qui se tiendra fin juin est encore dans quelques mois. Nous confirmons le maintien de France Air Expo du 18 au 20 juin 2020, et œuvrons avec nos partenaires et exposants pour vous présenter un salon de qualité.

Arbon Classic 2020 – Switzerland – CANCELED 

Due to the spread of the corona virus and the measures taken by the Federal Council, those responsible have decided to cancel arbon classics 2020 from 2 and 3 May. The health of visitors and volunteers is a top priority.

The 8th arbon classics on May 2nd and 3rd, 2020 in Arbon has to be canceled due to the currently unsafe situation with the spread of the corona virus. 20,000 vintage car fans each attend the major event over the two days.

Stord Airshow 2020 – Norway – CANCELED (organised again in 2021)

Eurasia Airshow 2020 – Turkey – POSTPONED TO JUNE 2020

Festival letectva Pieštany – Slovakia –  EVEN UNDER ORGANIZATION

We assure all fans of the event that we monitor the situation daily and are ready to follow the regulations and recommendations of the Central Crisis Staff of the Slovak Republic. In case an extraordinary situation continues in the Slovak Republic in May, the event will be organised in a replacement date.

Aviation Day Plasy – Czech Republic – CANCELED

After careful consideration of the current situation in the world and in the Czech Republic, the organizing staff of the largest air show in West Bohemia decided to cancel this year’s Day in the Air. The event is canceled completely, no alternative deadline will be set in 2020.

ILA Berlin 2020 – Germany – CANCELED

Berlin, 18 March 2020 – ILA Berlin 2020 will not be taking place. This was agreed upon by the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI), the organisers of the ILA, and Messe Berlin GmbH following an extraordinary meeting of the supervisory board of Messe Berlin GmbH. The ILA had been scheduled to take place from 13 to 17 May 2020 at Berlin ExpoCenter Airport.

NATO Tiger Meet, Beja – Portugal – POSTPONED TO JULY 2020

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, The Portugees Air Force has decided to postpone NATO Tiger Meet 2020. New dates are now July 5th until 17th

Abingdon Air and Country Show 2020 – UK – POSTPONED TO AUGUST 2020

Following the Government’s announcement regarding mass public gatherings, the event planned for Sunday 17th May has been postponed until the last bank holiday weekend in August.

Duxford Air Festival 2020 May – UK- CANCELED

In line with the latest advice issued by the Government and Public Health England, Duxford Air Festival has been cancelled. We are sorry for any disappointment.

EBACE2020 – Switzerland – CANCELED

On 15 March 2020, European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) and National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) announced the decision to cancel the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition 2020 (EBACE2020), due to concerns related to the rapidly evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The event was scheduled to take place in Geneva from May 26-28, 2020. The two cosponsoring partners have agreed that exhibit and registration fees will be refunded in full.

Pardubice Air Festival – Czech Republic – EVEN UNDER ORGANIZATION

Since the event is due to take place in 10 weeks and no one currently knows exactly how long the restrictions can last, Preparations of the Aviatic Pilgrimage will continue and during the month of April, the Board will decide whether the Aviatic Pilgrimage will take place within the originally planned term or be moved or cancelled for this year.
